The drill is not variable speed. This is excellent. If your jobs are little ones, take a look at variable-speed drills which are lighter and more easily controlled. It is either on with geared-down power combined with abundant speed, or it is off.If you set the clutch "high," be prepared for a wrist-twisting when the screw is seated, having turned as far as it is going to.Read carefully and judge carefully before you make a purchase of this screwdriver.Black and Decker has made a good tool here. For my uses, it has plenty of power. In fact, that may be a disadvantage. For smaller jobs or for smaller screws, the screwdriver is more than capable of stripping the threads of the screw.
This unit works better than the 6 volt ones so don't get those.Adjustable torque also works well. best electric screw driver I have used. Mine is over 2 years old and going strong.Production use killed one after a year when the switch went from daily usage.
It works fine for what I use it for as long as I have the correct implement to fit the guitar tuning keys.[.].
If you want to run a 4" screw you may want to get a drill. I bought this for my wife's framing business. It has plenty of power for this application and the battery life is very good.
Ive even used it to hammer things with, as a quick tool. I bought the thing as a spur of the moment purchase. I give it 4 stars only because I do wish battery life was a bit longer. I ve had it for over two years, and it still is going strong, except I did break off the end battery cover piece. I ended up loving this little thing. Ive done major remoldeling jobs (my kitchen, and bathroom using it.
